What do I bring?
The weather in February is beautiful. Mid to high 70s during the day and cooler in evenings, which might require a sweater. Women, please bring flats, sandals or comfortable walking shoes in order to be able to walk the cobblestone streets of San Miguel. Don't forget your bathing suits, as there is a nearby hot spring & many hotels and villas have pools.
Will I need to rent a car?
No. The town of San Miguel is small & almost everything is within walking distance. There are also plenty of taxis you can take in case your legs get tired! The average taxi ride costs approx $1.50-$2.00.
Is San Miguel de Allende safe?
SMA is classified as an extremely safe city. Of course, exercise the same caution as you would traveling any international country.
Can I get around without speaking Spanish?
Some people say that in San Miguel Allende, foreigners outnumber locals. Almost all people speak English.
Will I be able to access the Internet?
Many hotels have business centers. Many cafes also provide free WiFi.
Can I drink the water in San Miguel de Allende?
As elsewhere in Mexico, tap water is not drinkable. Bottled water is widely available. Almost all restaurants do provide filtered water and are extermely conscious and careful of hygiene.
Can I exchange money in town?
Many hotels and B&Bs will exchange your US Dollars for Pesos. However, there are many foreign currency exchange locations and banks in town.
